Try Scorers : David, Harry, Edward, Rhys & Tom

Touring team Vale of Lune put up a strong effort against the Wrexham under 9's this week but where unable to stop the ever increasing try score as Wrexham took full advantage of quick restarts and blistering pace to out play their opponents.
An excellent team performance from the Wrexham squad saw the benefits of their training sessions paying off, with improvements again in their passing, rucking and mauling. Fitness levels are also getting better and this shows in the level of activity in their games.
Defence was solid with both Rhys and Edward making try saving tackles. Well done also to James and Jordan for all the hard work they put in, always fighting for the ball. A very good performance.

Man of the Match : Unable to pick this week, not one player better than the rest, each and every player was committed and gave their all. Well done boys.
29th February 2004 Crewe & Nantwich (W)
7 - 1
Try Scorers : David, Tom, James, Harry C.

Another good performance saw a Wrexham side pull away from the C&N under 9's. Not as close as their previous encounter away at Crewe, the Wrexham charge lead by David Bowen tore the opponents apart. A good display of skills, particularly from the Rook and Maul enabled Wrexham to keep possession and triumph convincingly at the end.

Man of the Match : Edward Evans.
Well done Edward, good pace and excellent positioning get you the credit this week.
15th February 2004 Widnes (W)
7 - 4
Trys: David Bowen (4), Tom (1), Jack (1), Harry (1)

Excellent result Lads, hard fought and well won. Superb passing and support enabled Wrexham to keep the ball alive and moving forward, not always getting it their own way, but rarely allowing the Widnes line to break through. Fitness again was pushed to its limits but we held our ground and the result reflected this, Well Done.
The Wrexham team has really 'clicked' now and are at times a real pleasure to watch, keep it up boys.

Man of the match : David Bowen, well done David, good solo efforts combined with solid team play gets you the MOTM award this week.
8th February 2004 Ruthin (D)
3 - 3
Try Scorers : Harry and Tom (2)
A fair result for two teams who who played very well. After taking an early lead Wrexham allowed the Ruthin squad too much possession which resulted in them leveling the scores and then going one in front. Fortunately Wrexham came back to level things
up and that's how the score remained until the final whistle.
The Wrexham squad where without two of their key players this week, both David Bowen and Edward Evans, who played for the under 10's squad. A good performance which again showed good ball skills but an area which requires further development is squad
fitness. Look out lads, coach is going to run you ragged !

Man of the match : Harry Cartwright, well done Harry, good skills and hard work got you right in the thick of things this week, Captain as well.
18th January 2004 Warrington (D)
3 - 3

Warrington 3 - Wrexham 3
Try Scorers : Rhys Williams, Harry Cartwright & James Burns

What a credit these two teams are to their Clubs. An incredibly enjoyable game to watch which demonstrated why we must keep the enthusiasm for our mini teams going. Wrexham took the early advantage with a 2 point lead, courtesy of tries from Harry & Rhys but were then left for dead as Warrington came back with 3 of their own. With just two minutes remaining Wrexham mustered up a good forward attack which resulted in James's first try of the season. The score line of 3 - 3 was a perfect reward for two teams who showed off their Rugby skills to the full. Few errors, good tackling, running, passing and support play from the Wrexham squad
made my day, they should be very proud of themselves.  Well done boys....

Special mention this week goes to Sean Lee, this was without doubt his best game. Shaun is always in the right place but lacks the confidence to do something
with the ball, today however was different. Shaun got right in the thick of it and was a great asset to his team mates. Well done Sean.

Man of the Match : James Burns, 1st try of the season, narrowly missing out last week, just goes to show hard work pays off and sometimes you even score !
11th January 2004 Mold (D)
2 - 2

(W)
5 - 1

Wrexham 2 Mold 2, Try Scorers Edward Evans, David Bowen
Wrexham 5 Mold 1, Try Scorers Edward Evans (2), David Bowen, Adam Coates & Harry Cartwight.

Two very hard fought games today, as expected against a good Mold squad. In the first match Mold took an early lead with a well worked try and the Wrexham team were on the back foot for most of the first half, until finally pulling back a try to even
the scores at 1 - 1 at the close of the first half. Mold came out well for the 2nd half but good defence from the Wrexham boys halting their progress until finally the pushed one over with 2 minutes to go. Wrexham kept their composure and responded almost immediately to level the score line at 2 - 2,
well done Edward...!, this being the final score.

The second match was a far better performance from the under 9's who by this time had found their passing game once more. Support for the player on the ball
was very good and the ball was kept moving forward. Special mentions for James and new boy Thomas who played very well and were unlucky not to get tries themselves.  Well Done Boys............

Man of the match - David Bowen, well done David.
4th January 2004 Nant Conwy (W)
2 - 0

(W)
9 - 5

1st match - Nant Conway 0 Wrexham 2, Try scorers, Edward Evans & David Bowen

2nd match - Nant Conway 5 Wrexham 9 Try scorers, Edward Evans & David Bowen

The Wrexham boys played 2 matches today, the first a 'touch' game against the NC under 8's, which we won 2 - 0. This rugby league method of play really confusing the Wrexham team at times, now that they're used to driving through the opposition, finding it difficult moving the ball forward before being touch tackled!

The second match against the NC under 9's was more like it. A tough game for both teams but with the speed of the Wrexham players making the difference once the ball has moved into open ground. A good tackling game with all the players doing their bit and resulting in an overall good performance.

Man Of The Match - Edward Evans, well done Edward.

7th November 2003 West Park
St Helens
(L)
4 - 2

(L)
4 - 1

Try Scorers - David Bowen & Harry Cartwright

The first loss of the season came against a very good West Park team. After going into an early two try lead the Wrexham squad were soon on the back foot to finally loose 4 - 2. Having said this, I wouldn't like any of the Wrexham players to go away down hearted, their performance was full of spirit and their mistakes can be sorted in training. Having spoken to one of the West Park Parents, I discovered that the team is unbeaten at present, and has been for several seasons. From their performance on the pitch
you could see why!  Two games where played and although we lost both all the players kept battling until the very end. A big well done to them all.

Man of the match : This week two players stood out, both deserving of this title, they are Jordan Jones & Ellis Jones, well done boys.
30th November 2003 Denbigh (W)
5 - 0
Try Scorers : David Bowen, Sean lee & Rhys Williams

A good performance again this weekend. Denbigh where short of players so we loaned several of ours to help out. A larger pitch size allowed both teams to take full advantage of the extra space, which allowed the game to flow well considering this match was
touch rugby. As always Wrexham displayed good ball skills for their age and when combined with good discipline and an ever increasing knowledge of the laws, demonstrates a solid platform for the team to build on.
The second game of the day involved the Wrexham team splitting into two groups and playing two 10 minute halves of contact rugby. Excellent!. The game ended in a draw but both sides showing that the work undertaken in the training sessions is being used
to good effect in our game.

As always a well done to everyone who played and supported today but a special mention for Ellis, James & Jordan who really did put in maximum effort.

Man of the match today was Jordan Jones, well done Jordan!
2nd November 2003 Crewe & Nantwich  (W)
12 - 2
Our second 'contact' game of the season and a fabulous match to watch, in which Wrexham kept the pressure on for the full 30 minutes, conceding only two tries. I've said it before but this team really does pass the ball well, moving forward at all times and
taking full advantage of the pitch size by moving from one wing to the other. Support play is improving at a good rate with the physical presence of the larger players able to cut through the opposition and when tackled their teammates are ready to collect the ball and carry on.
A special mention this week to Rhys Williams. Rhys played out of his skin and put in numerous tackles to prevent the opposition making ground, one in particularly prevented a certain try, keep it up Rhys.

Man Of The Match : RHYS WILLIAMS
Finally, to all the Team, well done!

12th October 2003 Ruthin  (W)
12 - 1
Another good performance by the under 9's. Solid passing and excellent running again won the day. Wrexham again displayed good
interception skills and stole the ball several times, making good use of it when they did. Excellent runs by Sean and james helped
to seal the match for Wrexham helped along their way by new boy Adam. Well done Under 9's
28th September 2003 Caernarfon  (W)
12 - 1
Try Scorers : David Bowen, Edward Evans, 'Jacob 'Titch' Williams, Harry 'Potter' Cartwright, Jack Williams and Harry. An easy win for the Under 9's this week but a game that allowed the Wrexham team to try fresh idea's .Teamwork was excellent,
with all the players becoming involved. Interception of the ball both in the air and on the ground was superb and as always the teams handling ability was evident. The Team is eager to play the contact game but as yet has not had the opportunity.
21st September 2003 Colwyn Bay (W)
0 - 5
Try scorers David Bowen & Harry ' Potter' Cartwright
A good Team performance from the under 9 squad, with a game full of solid passing and determination. The home team was kept in their own half for the majority of the match with Wrexham keeping the pressure on for the entire 20 minutes.
7th September 2003 Mold (W)
2 - 0
In a hard fought contest Wrexham u9's put down two well executed trys to take this opening match of the season. Jack Williams & Richard Williams each planted a firm try. A fine start to the season.
