16th April 2000; Warfdale (W)6 - 3
The Under 8’s hosted Warfdale and won 6 – 3 (try count). Josh Francis and Tom
Bellis each got two and Jack Challoner and Dwyane Jones each got one.
9th April 2000; Porthmadog
Tournament: Abergele (L)1 - 5; Nant Conwy (D)1 -1;Caernarfon (W) 2 -1
Our Under 8's and 9's joined forces and
represented Wrexham as the Under 9's in a tournament played at Porthmadog. We played three
games. We lost to Abergele 1 - 5 (try score) Shaun Strudwick scoring for Wrexham. We drew
1 - 1 with Nant Conwy with Ethan Bishop getting our try. We beat Caernarfon 2 - 1 (try
count). Josh Francis and Dwyane Jones each getting a try, both are Under 8's. Wrexham came
joint second in Group 1 with Nant Conwy, with Abergele finishing on top. The final was
between Abergele and Dolgellau and Abergele ran out victors.
2nd April 2000; Sandbach Game
1 (L)1 - 2; Game 2 (W)5 - 1
The Under 8’s played Sandbach at home. We played two games. Wrexham fielded the same
side for both games as Sandbach have a large number of players. In the first game we went
down 1 – 2 (try count). Declan Simms getting our only try. In the second game we ran
out victors with the score of 5 – 1 (try count). Josh Francis scored four and Declan
Simms got the other. A win on aggregate!
19th March 2000; Denbigh (W)7 - 0
The Under 8’s and 9’s combined forces away to Denbigh and played an 11-a-side
game. They ran out convincing winners with the try count of 7 – 0. Ethan Bishop got a
hat trick, Shaun Strudwick got two and Dwyan Jones and Nick Davies each getting one.
5th March 2000; Chester; Game 1
(W)5 - 0; Game 2 (W)6 - 1
The Under 8’s played away to Chester. We played Chester twice and won both games
convincingly. In the first game Josh Francis scored twice, as did Jack Challoner. Ben
Massam scored once. This gave us the score line of 5 try’s to nil. The nine Wrexham
players then played another game against fresh opposition and won this game 6 try’s
to 1. This time Josh Francis ran in two try’s, Carwyn Griffiths, Jack Challoner, Ben
Massam and Ashton Williams each got one.
13th February 2000; Widnes; (L)3 -

The Under 8 and 9’s joined forces to play Widnes away. They went down with a try
count of 3 – 8. Josh Francis scored twice and Tom Bellis scored once.
6th February 2000; Shrewsbury Game 1
(W)5 - 0, Game 2 (L)1 - 2
The Under 8’s played at home against Shrewsbury and played twice, the first game
they won 5 try’s to nil. Josh Francis and Dwayne Jones both scored twice and Declan
Simms scored once. They lost the second game 1-2. Josh scoring for the home team.
23rd January 2000; Winnington
Park; Game 1 (W)3 - 1 Game 2 (W)3 - 2
The Under 8 and 9’s joined forces this weekend and played away to Winnington
Park, in the first game Wrexham won by 3 try’s to 1. The try scorers were Ethan
Bishop (2) and Shaun Strudwick. The second game was once again won by Wrexham, this time
the score line was 3 try’s to 2. The try scorers were once again Ethan Bishop (2) and
Shaun Strudwick.
5th December 2000; Mold & Stoke;
Mold (L)1 - 4; Stoke (L)5 - 7
The Under 8’s had a triangular contest with Stoke and Mold at home. They lost 1
try to 4 against Mold. Josh Francis scored for Wrexham. They then went on to loose against
Stoke 5 tries to 7. Josh ran in two tries, Declan Simms did likewise and Jack Chaloner ran
in one. In both game the lads played well only to loose right at the end.
21st November 1999; Crewe Game
1 (L)3 - 9; Game 2 (W)4 - 2
Under 8’s lost away to Crewe the first game 3 – 9 (try count). Andrew Gale,
Ashton Williams and Jack Challoner scored Wrexham tries. In the second game Wrexham won 4
– 2 (try count). This time Ben Massam scored three and Jack Challoner scored the
other.
14th November 1999; Shrewsbury
Game 1 (W)3 - 0 Game 2 (W)5 - 0
U8’s played away at Shrewsbury and won the first game 3 try’s to nil. The try
scorers were Josh Francis (2) and Declan Simms. After the U9’s game the U8’s
played a second game (this was due to a good turn out of youngsters) and again beat
Shrewsbury, this time by 5 try’s to nil. Josh Francis ran in three more try’s,
so we can make him man of the matches!
24th October 1999; Widnes (L)1 - 4
Under 8’s lost to Widnes 1 – 4 (try count) at home. Josh Francis scored our try.
